Synopsis:
An illegal biological weapon K-55 is stolen from a university lab. The university lab can't even call the police because the secret nature of the weapon. The school lab then receives a message stating that the entire country is now being held hostage and they must pay a ransom of 300 million yen.

Kazuyuki Kuribayashi (Hiroshi Abe) works as a senior researcher at the university lab. He agonizes over his difficult relationship with his adolescent son. Kazuyuki Kuribayashi is selected got a mission to take back the stolen biological weapon.

一種名為「K-55」的秘密生化武器於大學實驗室內被偷走，研究院院長(柄本明 飾)收到匿名信，內容表示「全國人民已成為人質，並要求3億日圓贖金」。礙於事件性質，研究院無法報警求助，時限只有4日。而一位中年失意研究員(阿部寬 飾)就被要求尋找K-55下落，同時院長室的電話響起 – 事件的元兇已經死亡！事件看來苦無對策，不過元兇留下K-55位置的線索 – 日本最大的滑雪場，於是這位失意中坑背負全國的命運，在茫茫雪地尋找…
